Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back -Special Edition 1997- [27]
Episode 6 in the trilogy and the second movie released in the Star Wars saga, George Lucas has another hit on his hands. I liked watching this movie best of all. I wasn't spoiled by all the "hype" sneak previews of new footage that surrounded the rerelease of Star Wars, thus making for a more enjoyable movie experience. The new stuff was fun to look for because I didn't know exactly what to expect. I am a big Empire fan and this movie is my favorite of the three. If you like Star Destroyers this film is for you! I do give it a harder deduction on the 29 scale because the general movie going public will find this film the most depressing of the three. Arguably so, because in this film our heroes get beat up, split up, chased, double crossed, captured, tortured, and have dark family secrets revealed to them. Hard stuff, but hey, the Empire is a cold dark place and this time they dish it out good!
The 2 point deduction comes from 29 -1 for depressing the audience, and -1 for showing me that the Wuampa Snow creature really looks like a guy in a white gorrilla suite in need of a dentist (and ach, what table manners)!
Bottom Line: Go see this movie, because you wouldn't want to be humiliated at the office water cooler (or worse by your kids) just because you missed part two of Cinemas most historical event: The 20th Anniversary release of the Star Wars Trilogy. Have Fun! [JB]
