Tom Cruise plays a successful sports agent who works for a large celebrity management company. He is briefly visited by his conscience and is driven to write a memo recommending they reduce the number of clients and do a better job for each one. He is immediately fired for such hogwash and finds himself going it alone as a solo act with only a single client played by Cuba Gooding Jr.

He has difficulty paying the bills and life throws him a few curves, but Cruise is believable and might even be setting a minor trend that other professionals should consider, including myself. Life is just too short to live as a constant competition. Enough preaching. Gooding is enjoyable as the high strung and under valued talent and I just wanted to yell at the screen for him to get his act together to make himself marketable. Glenn Frey, of Eagles fame, has a supporting role as the head coach of the Phoenix Cardinals and I enjoyed his part. There are many more cameo app earances by other notable celebrities throughout the film. My whole family enjoyed the viewing and sat through it three times. (KC)
